Living In Fear

I can't believe myself. Why am I scared to voice out my opinions? Why should we be scared? After all, is not the government by the people and for the people? But no ... I'm still scared. We are all scared. But why should we?

When we see the police, we don't feel safe. But why should we? Aren't they by the people and for the people? Don't we pay taxes for them?

We dread going to the courts. But why should we? Aren't they by the people and for the people? Don't we pay taxes for them?

When we want to peacefully protest on the streets we see FRUs. We don't feel safe. But why should we? Aren't they supposed to protect the protestors? In democracies, police clear the roads for protestors and protect them; against internal and external threats. Aren't they by the people and for the people? Don't we pay taxes for them?

When we buy papers, we're fed lies and more lies. But why should they? Aren't they supposed to tell the people the truth? Aren't they by the people and for the people?

When we want to voice out our concerns to the Prime Minister, we don't feel safe. But why is that? Isn't he supposed to be accountable to us? Isn't he by the people and for the people? Don't we pay taxes for his allowances and residence? Weren't we born as citizens of this country and not his subjects?

All men are born free. We were not born to be slaves. We are citizens. We pay taxes to serve ourselves, the people, not to serve individuals who care not for us and our families. The 'divine right' of kings and tyrants has no place in today's world.

Take a long look at your children tonight. Are they raised by you to be the slaves of others? Do you want them to be scared too?

It's time to take back our country. Our country has been hijacked for far too long. We start by liberating our hearts and minds.
